Jeju

It was on Jeju Island that our journey in Korea came to an end

Indeed, Jeju Island was the final stop of our two-week adventure in Korea. Just like in Busan, the weather was moody, but we were lucky enough to enjoy some beautiful sunny days.

After two action-packed weeks across Korea, Jeju felt like a true escape. The moment we arrived, we sensed a change in atmosphere: fresher sea air, breathtaking volcanic landscapes, and a much more laid-back vibe compared to Seoul or Busan.

Getting around the island wasn’t exactly easy. Without a car, we had to juggle between buses and long walks, which naturally led us to stay mostly in the northern part, near the city center. Surprisingly, we found that same vibrant energy typical of Korea’s big cities—lively streets, trendy cafés, and even a buzzing nightlife. Quite the contrast to Jeju’s wild landscapes and vast open nature.

But what stood out the most was undoubtedly the ferry ride from Mokpo. It was an experience in itself: the gentle rocking of the waves, conversations with curious locals, and the highlight—an impromptu karaoke session in the middle of the ocean. An unforgettable memory!

After days of endless hikes and sightseeing, we finally decided to slow things down. Our destination: Samyang Beach, one of the rare black-sand beaches in Korea. Unlike Jeju’s more touristy spots, this place had a peaceful, almost intimate atmosphere. Hardly any crowds—just the sound of the waves and the warm wind brushing against our skin.

The black sand, of volcanic origin, gave the beach a unique charm. We indulged in a well-deserved afternoon of relaxation: sunbathing, reading, and dipping our feet in the water. A true moment of tranquility, far from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A little slice of paradise—simple, yet incredibly soothing.
